TEAM LEADER (Job Coach/Job Trainer/Teacher for autistic adults)


JoyDew Career Center for Adults with Autism is recruiting coaching and support staff to conduct classes for educational enrichment and job training, provide communication assistance, and support our members as job coaches using our groundbreaking approach to autism employment.

Location: 79 Chestnut Street Ste 101 Ridgewood NJ 07450

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Program Director, Support Staff and Job Coaches will help lead our multi-faceted approach by:

  • Helping plan the curriculum
  • Developing, planning and conducting educational enrichment and job training classes with members in mind, to maintain involvement, development, community, and safety
  • Working directly with members to facilitate participant involvement and communication
  • Supporting members as Job Coaches to help them perform their jobs and to ensure delivery to clients
  • Assisting with all aspects of program activities
  • Facilitating groups, and group interaction
  • Exemplifying all rules, regulations, and policies set forth by the program

Requirements:

Past experience working with autistic population is NOT required.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s Degree with any major preferred. Candidates in any field who are interested in working with individuals with special needs are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working with young adults with AUTISM population a plus
  • Must have an interest and be comfortable working with the special needs community
  • Strong communication skills and experience working on a team
  • Must pass background check and drug test
  • Must take and pass all training required by DDD
  • COVID vaccination required
  • Clean driving record is required

PROGRAM COORDINATOR


Adults with autism often don’t communicate clearly, but have amazing hidden “super-powers” in areas like visual acuity and pattern recognition. JoyDew has developed an autism-friendly environment and proprietary method to help identify, develop and leverage their unique gifts in technology-focused jobs such as robotics, data analytics and cancer pre-screening.

JoyDew Career Center for Adults with Autism is recruiting a program coordinator to achieve our program’s goals and objectives related to the management, development, and implementation of all program’s activities, including development of an engaging curriculum of activities and member goals, implementing the curriculum, and maintaining the individual plans and goals for each member.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieving goals and objectives related to the management, development, and implementation off all program’s activities, including development of an engaging curriculum of activities and member goals, implementing the curriculum, and maintaining the individual plans for each member.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians and care givers.
  • Organize and participate in all aspects of programs for participants.
  • Developing Strengths Assessments
  • Develop Support Plans
  • Documenting all day-to-day participants’ work and engagement.
  • Evaluate and mange new applicants
  • Documentation for DDD.
  • Continue to develop in the field of Autism by attending recommended training programs and conferences in order to enhance special needs programs for participants. Provide training opportunities for staff in accordance with program goals and objectives.
  • Use scheduling and organization skills to coordinate cooperatively with all parts of the JoyDew organization and facilitate staff roles across program settings for all activities to operate smoothly.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferred with a specialty in Psychology, Special Education, or related field (or equivalent academic preparation or job experience).
  • Experience and/or training in program and people management.
  • Direct experience working with young adults/teenagers with autism, and experience working with parents/ caregivers/guardians of these individuals.
  • 2 years of experience or more in the area of developing programs for special needs
  • 1-2 years of experience managing staff. Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership skills as well as the ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals are crucial to success in this position.

DRIVER


JoyDew Career Center for Adults with Autism is recruiting a driver to pick-up and drop-off members from their homes to our office in Ridgewood, NJ every weekday.

Adults with autism often don’t communicate clearly, but have amazing hidden “super-powers” in areas like visual acuity and pattern recognition. JoyDew has developed an autism-friendly environment and proprietary method to help identify, develop and leverage their unique gifts in technology-focused jobs such as robotics, data analytics and cancer pre-screening.

We are looking for a reliable, safe, friendly driver who genuinely likes this population, believes in their competence and wants to help our members fulfil their hopes and dreams.

Position: Driver

Location: 79 Chestnut Street, Ste. 101 Ridgewood NJ 07450

Hours: Monday through Friday, 4 - 5 hours daily, 2 times a day: 7:00 am, and 2:45 pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a mini-van to drive autistic adults from home to our day program in the morning and them drop off in the afternoon.

Requirements:

  • Significant driving experience
  • Clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation to our location
  • Must pass background check, drug test and other federal and state requirements.
  • Must be comfortable with the autistic population, many of whom are non-speaking or have other communication challenges.

Compensation:

$18/hour
