Understanding Echolalia in Autism and How to Support Your Adult Child

Echolalia is one of the most common communication traits in autism. At JoyDew, we don't treat it as a problem, we build on it as a bridge to meaningful expression.

Autism Training for First Responders and Medical Personnel

"It's such a privilege to get to learn directly from these patients how they can best be accommodated, how to best treat them, and effective ways to impact the doctor/patient connection."
- Dr. Joey Botros, Jacobi/Montefiore Emergency Medicine Resident

An “Autism 101” lecture is followed by intensive, hands-on, simulation scenarios where first responders work one-on-one with members to practice providing service in common medical and emergency situations.

Our members have conducted trainings in hospitals, physician offices, fire stations and police departments throughout New Jersey and New York.

Most recently, they have provided a series of half-day sessions to train 60 Albert Einstein School of Medicine emergency medicine residents at Jacobi Medical Center/Montefiore in the Bronx. The training was so successful that the hospital system is now planning to expand the training to 14 hospitals in the NY Metro area.

The feedback on this training program has been outstanding and has received media attention from the larger New York metro area.
