Livingston, NJ – Today JoyDew announced it will be opening a new location at 5 Regent St in Livingston this spring and is accepting applications for 40 adults with autism (“members”) and 10 staff.
Eastman Management’s Regent Park Associates is renovating the 3,719 Sq Ft space to be autism-friendly for people on all parts of the spectrum. Designed with sensory sensitivities in mind, the location will have a variety of rooms for job training and academic enrichment, and an adjacent space for employment.
“People with autism have special gifts which often go unrecognized due to communication differences and societal stigma”, says Moish Tov, CEO of JoyDew. “We encourage people with autism and their families to contact us if they have interest in joining a community of friends focused on developing expressive communication, continually learning, being employed, and contributing to society.”
JoyDew is also seeking 10 job coaches and trainers in both their Bergen & Essex County locations to develop curriculum, conduct classes, provide communication assistance, and support members as they train and work in 21st century jobs. Applicants should presume competence and be open to learning new approaches to serving people on the spectrum.
JoyDew is a NJ and PA state-approved agency serving the growing population of adults with autism. The social enterprise is focused on improving their quality of life by identifying their unique strengths and interests, developing their gifts with job training and academic enrichment, providing communication and social supports, and employing them in high-value jobs in a community of their own.
The company plans to expand to more locations soon, and is seeking donations, grants and investors to accelerate the growth. JoyDew is also looking for companies interesting in contracting teams of people on the spectrum in the areas of artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, surveillance, cyber security, medical diagnostic imaging, data analytics, content management, robotics and multi-media.
