In case you missed it, American Hispanic channel HITN Television did a wonderful profile piece on JoyDew to kick off Autism Awareness Month. It focuses on the many ways we help support people with communication differences, including not only language, but those with various verbal communication challenges, including the non-speaking. The “Voces” episode airing is perfect timing as we prepare to open our Livingston location in a couple of weeks and still have a few openings!

Simulation helps Ridgewood police better handle future encounters with people with autism

Police officers know plenty about training for certain situations, and now a police department in New Jersey is learning a new playbook when encountering individuals with autism.

In honor of National Autism Acceptance Month, Ridgewood police officers on Thursday took part in a simulation exercise developed by the JoyDew Foundation to help de-escalate possible situations with people who are on the spectrum.
